Tera Lynn Childs Thank *you*! The inspiration for the human names was pretty random (Brody after Brody Jenner, Aunt Rachel after my cousin, Quince as a twist on Quinn...). A lot of the mermaid names, however, are from the names (both scientific and common) of sea life. Especially seashells. Dosinia, Periwinkle, and Whelk are all types of shells. I have a guide called Seashore Life and that's where I found a lot of them. xoxo
