I read a bunch of mysteries and books based on true stories that helped me decide how to write it - I loved Joyce Carol Oates' Black Water and The Perfect Nanny by Leila Leilami. I also love Tana French books - they are mysterious but so psychological and delve deeply into everyones heads. And I loved Frozen River - the mystery , the suspense, the setting!
