What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Sylvia Nobel Watching the story unfold before me. It's actually a rather magical process. Sometimes I go back for a re-write and am amazed. Did I write that? The blank page or screen can be daunting and I feel a tremendous sense of satisfaction when the story flows the way I envision it. But, there are always surprises where the characters take off on their own and all I can do is follow along. The characters, I've discovered after so many years of writing, are always right. I never doubt them.
