Humm, that is a tough question. I like taking topics that are controversial, such as fringe science and building stories around them that not only educate the reader but generates debate along moral or ethical issues associated with the "what if" scenarios if the fringe science had no oversight. Then I just envision characters playing out one of the "what if" scenarios.
