Well, it isn't a glamorous vocation like many people imagine it to be. It is a lot of hard work. But at the end of the day, you are left with something that is timeless. No matter what genre it is, a book becomes it's own living and breathing thing, separate from what you created or imagined it would become, as the reader infuses it with their life experiences and opinions.
