Goodreads asked Natasha Yim:

How do you get inspired to write?

Natasha Yim Inspiration is a funny thing. It can come from anywhere, sometimes from the most unusual places. It can be staring out at the rain ("Otto's Rainy Day") or listening to an editor talk about fractured fairy tales at a writer's conference ("Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas") or "What If?" questions that rumble through my head. Daily inspiration though comes from somewhere deeper -- an urge to create, a passion for words and images, a story line that sinks its hook into me and won't let go. But writing most often is about creating when the muse doesn't inspire, when I'm stuck on a scene or passage and I have to write through it to loosen the blockage and get the words flowing again. That's the difference between writing as a hobby and writing as a career. But reading great books by other authors can be a fantastic way to get me re-inspired and back to the drawing board--even on days I don't feel like writing.
