What inspired you to write "Dead End in Norvelt?"

Jack Gantos From reading the book you know that Norvelt is my home town. It has a great history, and I wanted to combine the history, with a lot of the Norvelt characters, with me and my family--and I wanted readers to appreciated that we are all better when we are a "helping-hands" caring community as opposed to a "dog-eat-dog" community. So choose your values wisely. jg
