Goodreads asked Marsha Hubler:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Marsha Hubler After writing for 20 years, the most valuable advice I can give is this:
1. Join a local critique group or one online to have your work critiqued. No writer can improve his/her skill without it.
2. Attend writers' conferences to meet editors and agents. It's getting harder and harder to be published. Besides the invaluable contacts you'll make with the pros, you'll meet other writers who will become supportive friends. You'll also attend workshops to help you hone your writing craft.
3. Read as many published books in your genre as you can. Also, read "how to write" books. These will only help you perfect your writing technique.
