Did you know Elly Griffiths a couple of years ago released a free short story on Kindle,called Ruths First Christmas ?, it mat be a better way to release a free short story rather than keep Rope Enough out there for free.

Hi David, I'm giving a lot of thought to the promotional aspect of my self-publishing at the moment. (I've finally just got my days to myself now my son has started school.) Time to do 'something'. I've thought about your suggestion that RE be charged for and I'm considering it. I do have a 'thin' R&M File written that I don't really know what to do with. (It's about 15,000 words.) Perhaps i could give that away instead, although i'm not entirely sure of its value with regard to it being representative of the series. Like I say, I'm definitely thinking! Thanks very much for your suggestion. I read that EG short and quite liked it but I did notice that Amazon customers didn't universally rave about the length of it so it does make me wonder about the wisdom of putting a short out.
