Goodreads asked C.J. Edmunds:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

C.J. Edmunds My latest book is Sojourn.

It's actually the first one that I wrote before embarking on the Dark District series with "Take Me Now" as the first story in that series.

It was inspired by a local comic called Trese, which told of this girl named Alexandra Trese, who owns a bar called the Diabolical, in downtown Manila, and who combats the city's Supernatural threats along with her two loyal bodyguards, a pair of half-breed Aswang twins.

It gave the reader something familiar and yet it was new as it opened my eyes to urban fantasy and that it was indeed possible to have one in a local setting. The writing was done about after a year of my father's death in 2007 and later was submitted to be part of a writing workshop called Strange Lit. It was part of the Darkest Dreams bundle released thru Buqo books.

Later I went back and revised and expanded it and this is the book you currently are reading.
