Carole Johnson
Carole Johnson asked Melanie Dickerson:

Love your stories! Hope to see any (or all) in movie form. Do you have any tips on how to maintain a writing schedule?

Melanie Dickerson Hi, Carole! Movies of my books would be awesome! I'm praying. :-)
Give yourself a deadline just to add a little pressure to yourself, to help you stay motivated. Make daily, weekly, and monthly word count goals. For example, 1,000 words a day, 5 days a week. That is my goal when I first start a book, then I increase it as I get more into the book.
Also, cut out distractions. Go into a room where you can't hear the TV, if others in your household are watching. Turn on music, if that helps you write, light a candle, diffuse some essential oils, or something else that will signal to your brain that it's time to write.
Also, decide how much TV you will allow yourself, cut out extracurricular activities that interfere with making your goals, etc. It's okay to say no to things that aren't adding to your life goals, God's will, your peace of mind, etc.
And pray. Prayer is your number one weapon against failure! God is faithful.
