Sorry I just now discovered your question waiting patiently here for me! Making a living as an author is awesome and scary (readers, be sure to support your favorite authors!) But it's a dream I've had for a long time, and even on my worst days, I remind myself that I am so very fortunate. It came about because my writing schedule was so full there came a point that there was no way I could do both fully or well. I had to either hold on to my job and sacrifice the growing momentum of my writing career, or let go of security and take the leap. Giving up a regular paycheck and health insurance was scarier than I thought it would be, but I haven't looked back. :)
