Goodreads asked Trish Edmisten:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Trish Edmisten If I have a story idea but I can't figure out how to get it off the ground, I'll usually map out every event I want to take place. Then I'll evaluate the list and put the events in the order in which it makes most sense for them to happen. That's usually enough to get the creative juices flowing. When that doesn't work, I just have to set the story aside. I find that forcing an idea often makes for bad writing.
