How long does it take you to write a book like Rescued? Is there a part of the process that is harder or easier than the others?

It took me months to write the first couple chapters of Rescued... and only seven weeks to write the rest. Novel openings are always the toughest. Getting the character's voice right, without pausing the story, is a challenge. Once I get going, the story zooms forward like an avalanche and by the last few chapters I'm typing so fast it hurts my fingers.
