Goodreads asked Ruth Morgan:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Ruth Morgan I've only really experienced this when I've been between writing projects, so I always try to set up the next project before the current one ends and for the past twenty years I've been kept very busy, so can't complain! In my mind, beginning a new story is like mining: you have to believe there are gems below the surface you can't see yet but you have a definite sense that they're there and they're worth digging for. I have to feel interested enough in an idea to want to explore it but once I feel that interest, that pull, I start digging and even if I hit an obstacle, it doesn't deter me if I still feel the pull. What this looks like in reality is me, sitting in a chair, notebook in hand, asking myself questions. What would this character do under these circumstances? What could happen next?
