I'm currently writing the third novel in my trilogy - The Lion and the Leopard - set in the area round Lake Nyasa and Lake Tanganyika during the First World War. The 'Lion' in the title is the badge of the British South Africa Police (BSAP) - a para-military force started in 1890. The 'Leopard' in the title is the badge of the Nyasaland Volunteer Reserve. Both units served with distinction in the War. Many years later I had the privilege of serving in both outfits.
