Let me answer this as two questions.
1) Where do I find the inspiration for my stories. Every day life provides me an endless stream of ideas. I begin most mornings, devouring the news. It helps to have a curious mind. I love to take a scenario and turn it on its side, asking plenty of "what ifs?" You'd be surprised how many stories started as a tiny seed of an idea.
2) What inspires me to sit down on any given day and write? For me, it's an urgent need to tell the story. My mind often works faster than my fingers can write and type. Once I have a story and know where I want it to go, I'm anxious to get it from my mind to the page. Discipline is a big help.
