Goodreads asked Alan B. Gibson:

How do you get inspired to write?

Alan B. Gibson I've wanted to write fiction for decades. Apparently not enough to actually do it, however. I wrote The Dead of Winter as a screenplay for a movie which had been funded and unfunded two times. I knew I was eventually going to write the book version, and it took the demise of the movie to get me motivated to finish the book. Writing a book didn't require funding, and I didn't have to rely on anyone else. Just me.
