Honestly, most of my inspirations for stories come in my dreams. I'm not sure how or why, but I often wake up from interesting dreams and write down the major plot points of the story I was just dreaming. I keep a pad of paper and a pen next to the bed so that I can capture the ideas while they are fresh. Every once in a while I'll have a waking good idea, but most of my best ideas happen in my sleep.
