To help keep the voices in their heads from pinging all the time. To waylay depression and obsession with the writing life, something that does happen when in the midst of writing a story or a longer novel. I'm always thinking of the story, or more than one story, and this becomes tricky. I don't drink so much, never have, but I see others who love to drink. Tequila is my drink of choice.
