Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Israfel Sivad My most recent novel, "The Adversary's Good News", came to me one day as I walked downstairs and saw sitting on the kitchen table of a house I was living in in Washington, DC at the time my roommate's copy of Dante's "Inferno", which she was apparently reading a the moment. I looked at the book sitting there, contemplated its cover and how much I'd appreciated it as a young man, and realized I had my own version of The Divine Comedy to tell. That night, I wrote the sentence: "Somehow, a dead sparrow had found its way onto Christian Michael Anderson's floor."
