Goodreads asked D.M. Barr:

How do you get inspired to write?

D.M. Barr I've written for as far back as I can remember. I wrote poems beginning in 4th grade, and I recall my grandmother asking, "Did you really write this?" in a way that almost accused me of plagiarism, but in the proudest of ways. It made me so proud, I couldn't wait to have everyone read what I had written.

Later, I wrote nightlife and restaurant reviews for Downtown Manhattan newspaper, marketing articles for a number of business and meeting magazines and a ton of corporate communications work. I also co-wrote four songs, with my husband writing the music to my lyrics. But I always dreamed of writing fiction, which is why I call this my final frontier.
