Goodreads asked Rachel E. Kelly:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Rachel E. Kelly Seeing the story move forward all on its own. It's like being a reader, watching the story unfold, but way better because it's coming out of my own head. I write plot elements, having no idea what they have to do with the story, and somehow, miraculously, they make total sense later on. There is no better thrill. Also, because it comes from my own head, it tells me something about myself even if it's not immediately apparent. But as the story pieces click into place, I understand myself better and I get life because of it. Writing has that power. I have never discovered anything in life that can do that for me so effectively.
