Goodreads asked Matthew Robinson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Matthew Robinson Sometimes it isn't time to write. Sometimes it's time to get ready to write. It's time to read, to talk, to listen, to spend some time with the idea that might become the next thing to write. All of it is part of the process.

If I'm at the desk and the writing doesn't come, I pull something out of the draft pile and work on revision. I go to a reading. I go to workshop. I go to a bookstore. These things keep me close to the writing for the in-between times. And eventually, inevitably it again becomes time to write.
