Goodreads asked Courtney Psak:

How do you get inspired to write?

Courtney Psak I like to read a lot and I love watching movies. I had a media studies class in college where we would watch old thriller movies from the 40s (so he could guarantee no one had seen it before) and we'd watch the first half. Then our assignment would be to guess the ending based on certain clues or foreshadowing. It forces you to think of all the possibilities no matter how crazy. It always blew my mind when the ending would have a great twist I didn't think of, but sometimes I'd find that I liked my version of the ending better.
Since then, every book or movie I watch I sort of play this game in my head to figure out how I could dissect it. Not only does it help me try to avoid writing anything too predictable, but it also helps inspire different story ideas for myself.
