Goodreads asked Anne Bennett:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Anne Bennett Most writers need to write and get twitchy if they don't do any for a time. but often in the beginning a budding writer needs to hone their craft, find their own voice and create their own writing style and few can just sit down and write a novel. Consider if a person hammered a nail in a piece of wood we would not say they were a carpenter and the person who replaces a washer on a leaking tap is not a plumber and a writer has to learn too. Just as a child learns to read better by reading more, it is the same for a writer. Aim to write every day, articles, short stories, nubs of ideas for that novel you are determined to write. It will not be wasted, you are serving your apprenticeship and it will make you a better writer in the end.
