Once one makes the commitment to call himself a writer that creates an obligation to walk the talk. On a day when I'd like to shine it on and let the writing go, that little man on my shoulder starts nagging. However, most of the time I want to writing and find pleasure in the writing activity. Many people want to have written but don't like to write; they probably shouldn't write.
