A year has passed and Lynn and Jim Edwards have settled into the ranch house where they were held captive. Life seems to have come together and the twins are growing up in the peace of the western Minnesota farmland. Jesse Jaines and Paul Gassert are back in Washington DC until they get assigned a case which allows Jesse to visit Lynn.
