I am currently reading A Basket of Trouble and was heartened when in the first few pages I realised that your main character is still married to her husband. I find in a good many of the cozies I read the women are usually hot off a recent divorce or break up from their spouse. This was a lovely change of pace. What made you decide to keep them toegether when so many other authors dont

(view spoiler)[Hi Lindsay,
I'm so glad you are enjoying A Basket of Trouble! It is the third book in my Claire Hanover gift basket designer series. Have you read the other two? The answer to your question lies mostly in the first book, A Real Basket Case, which I recommend you read next, if you haven't already. In that book, the murder case directly impacts Claire and Roger's marriage, almost blowing it apart, when Roger is accused of murdering a handsome young massage therapist who was in the act of giving Claire a massage. The challenge for Claire was two-fold in that book, to find out who really did the killing and to convince Roger that saving their marriage is worth the effort. Obviously, since they are still together in the third book, Claire succeeds. But, you'll find some clues in the third book that they still are working hard on solidifying the gains they've made. I have a happy and healthy marriage with my husband, and I wanted to show that it's possible (with work) to have that relationship, by allowing Claire to also keep the man she fell in love with in college. I'm marking this answer as a spoiler, because it gives away some of what happens in A Real Basket Case, but it's not a spoiler to you, since you're already reading A Basket of Trouble. Thanks for the question! (hide spoiler)]

Really sorry to hear that you're taking a break from writing but completely understand. I'm a new mystery writer and can't believe how much time it takes! Less time for sea kayaking, hiking, running, etc. I've found your chapter in Shameless Promotion for Brazen Hussies really helpful. Could you advise me about how best to connect with other environmental mystery writers via Goodreads or otherwise? Thanks, Charlene
