I just re-read Orwell's 1984, and was reminded of its genius. I'd recommend it to everyone. It's as relevant today, as it was when it first came out, commenting on governments creating mega-projects to keep their people in line, or censorship and control, but it's also funny and touching.
Second favourite - Lonely Planet's book on Ibiza, as I went there for the first time and it was stunning - not all drugs and dancefloors! Not read any recent releases, but I might try the Booker prize winner. Looks fascinating.
