I agree he's a greatly underestimated writer - what he could have achieved had he lived - but fate dealt him a cruel blow. It is ironic that the duel in 'A Hero of Our Time' and the poem 'The Dream foreshadow his own tragic death. Hence the link to the Scots seer, Thomas the Rhymer!
