Noelclifden asked Ralph Lavelle:

How did you stay relevant with web stuff while "away"? Did you find reading about web stuff intruded upon your travel writing sensibilities, or were you able to compartmentalise the two–I assume you didn't write any web articles at the time? Or is writing, writing no matter what one writes about, or did you feel you developed a certain style in your travel writing?

Ralph Lavelle For the first part of the trip, I didn't stay up-to-date with any web/tech stuff at all. I concentrated on writing the book, and on learning Greek, etc. But as the time approached to look for a job in Dublin, halfway through the travels, I felt so disconnected and unhappy about work that I vowed not to allow myself become so removed from work again.

On the second half of our trip, with no book to write, I worked on my site, www.JayJayWords.com, which made me au courant with web stuff, and I felt better about getting back into it again.
