Goodreads asked Robert Crouch:

How do you get inspired to write?

Robert Crouch Ideas usually inspire me to write. I could see something on TV, read something, overhear a snippet of conversation, or notice something during a walk or run. Whatever it is, I let it roll around in my mind to gather its own momentum and shape. Then I’ll record everything so the idea isn’t lost.

With No Accident, there were a number of ideas that inspired the story. The main idea was to create a new and different kind of detective, like an environmental health officer. Then, I had the idea of disguising a murder as a work accident, which would be investigated by environmental health. All I need to do then was come up with the right kind of accident, using my knowledge and experience.
