Hello, I have a simple question. Do you have any information on the actual sailing "ship" the Kestrel? I'm researching this vessel for my family genealogy. The real Kestrel was a British brigantine built in 1839 and wrecked off Key West in 1847. It was rebuilt and reflagged as a US vessel by Asa Tift (Hemingway house) and named it for his wife Anna Tift. My great great grandmother came to American on this ship.

Hi Tom, Thanks for getting in touch. 'The Kestrel' that features in my series is an entirely fictional sailing vessel based on sailing ships from around 100 years earlier than the one you're researching - so unfortunately I cannot aid you in your research. Best of luck with it!
