Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Amaka Lily It was a combination of things that inspired me. Growing up in Nigeria, everyone wanted to come to America. America was supposed to be the land of milk and honey, the place paved with gold, the place where problems didn't exist. When I came to America, some of those expectations were met but there were others that weren't. I also noticed disillusionment in other Nigerians as they struggled to adapt to a new society. I thought this should be shared.
