Goodreads asked Emme Cross:

How do you get inspired to write?

Emme Cross It started with an annual review with my boss. I work in a 24/7 newsroom. Early---as in crack of stupid---mornings. I complained about the hours; the fact the newsroom carpet was grungy; and that I didn't get a chance to write an elegant sentence. Most of what I do is MASH journalism---get it out accurate and quickly. He pointed out that his job may not be the place to write an elegant sentence. The remark resonated and I got my first laptop and started writing. I have six books in the series St. Barts, based on one of my favourite places on the planet. (Unlike my characters, I don't know people with yachts or villas.)
