What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Brian Lageose The freedom to create your own worlds. I'm not talking about sci-fi, and I certainly don't mean any disrespect to those who pursue that genre. I like being able to take bits and pieces of my own life, and the glimmers of what I see in other lives, and manipulate those elements into a different perception, one that involves what maybe should have been and not what actually happened. We are all messy creatures, lumbering along and often failing, as humans do. As a writer, I like to pick up the debris, turn it around to get a different perspective, soften the rougher edges with a splash of whimsy, and then realign those building blocks into a structure that we hadn't considered before but perhaps we should have...
