Bren McClain George and Lennie of Steinback's "Of Mice and Men." Why? The complexity of their relationship. George's contempt of Lennie, yet love. I also adore that they have a dream, a fantasy that drives them forward. An escape from their reality, which is grim. Gives the story levity.
