I would say that "The Wind and the Lion", with Sean Connery as Mulai Ahmed er Raisuli and Candice Bergen as Eden Pedecaris is my favorite fictional "couple". I value a smart, capable, and confident female lead that stands equal to the male lead, and where the male lead is masculine without being narcissistic.
Another example of this dynamic would be "Sahara" (the movie, not the book; I don't favor Clive Cussler's writing), with Matthew McConaughey as Dirk Pitt and Penelope Cruz as Dr. Eva Rojas. Steve Zahn as Al Giordino is also excellent as Dirk's sidekick.
