This was a great question, and I wanted to think about it. I'll have to say my favorite fiction couple is John Steed and Emma Peel, from The Avengers. They weren't a couple, per se, but their dynamic, his obvious respect for her, his treating her as an equal, her fierceness and fearlessness were definitely models for my two, main characters.
