Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Stacy Bennett Sometimes I love the couples that fight against their destiny, like Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. You could guess they'd get together based on the sparks that fly from the first. The softening emotional arc as pride leads to respect and then regard is always so satisfying.

Then, there are the couples who have to hide their affection due to circumstances, like Roy Mustang and Riza in Fullmetal Alchemist-Brotherhood.

Then, there are those couples whose timing is painfully off, like Rosie and Alex in "Love, Rosie." You get sucked in and end up cringing for them, hoping ever harder the next time they will find each other.

Unlike some of my friends, I do like the love triangle. I would choose Mal for Alina over the Darkling in the Grisha Trilogy, Elias over Keenan for Laia in Ember in the Ashes series, and always Peeta over Gale for Katniss.

But as plebian as it sounds, I have to admit my all time favorite couple is probably Han Solo and Princess Leia in Empire Strikes Back.
