Goodreads asked K.C. Sivils:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

K.C. Sivils Give it your best shot. Know that every story needs an editor. Writing is a skill, story telling in my opinion isn't. You can develop you ability and skills as a writer.

Sit down and write. Discipline yourself to write so many words a day. It's okay if nobody but you ever reads what you write some days. It's a habit that must be cultivated.

Last of all, realize that YOU are responsible for promoting your book. It doesn't matter if you went indie or have a traditional deal. Being an author makes you a small business owner (hopefully a big small business). Learn something every day that will be helpful in making you and your book successful.

Success can be measured in many different ways. You don't have to have a NYT Bestseller to be successful!

Know that not everyone will like your story. It's just the way it is.

Also, know this. If you don't tell your story, nobody will every read it, and then the story is lost forever.
