Goodreads asked Rodney Hunt:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Rodney Hunt Being able to influence others is the best thing about a writer. By writing you have the opportunity to influence people beyond your generation. Consider Moses and the Apostle Paul. Neither were gifted speakers, but God filled them and used them to accomplish incredible things for his Kingdom. Moses wrote the majority of the Old Testament, and Paul wrote the majority of the New Testament.

Moses led over a million slaves out of Egypt, watched God split
the Red Sea, and received the Ten Commandments, but he got
tongue-tied.

Paul planted hundreds of churches and has impacted millions of
people through his writings in the New Testament, but people were
not impressed with him in person and often fell asleep during his
preaching.

When you write you have the opportunity to influence people here and now and people in the generations to come.
