A strange thing, this relationship
between Arabs and garbage.
Who told them,
who taught them,
to throw it away at random,
wherever
and however
they please?
When will Arabs understand
that placing garbage
where it belongs
would solve half
their environmental
and social problems?
And that the other half
would begin to disappear
the moment they stop
throwing away
their human treasures:
their skilled,
their talented,
their gifted people,
driving them beyond their borders
to enrich strangers instead?
When will Arabs stop
discarding
their finest minds,
only to replace them
with imported foreign refuse,
which they revere
simply because it arrives
with white skin
and blue eyes,
claiming to possess
skills and expertise
without which, they are told,
the natives cannot survive?
When will Arabs understand
that putting garbage
in its proper place,
whether the garbage
that governs them
or the garbage
they import,
would solve
all their problems?
