Victoria Secunda, When You and Your Mother Can't Be Friends: Resolving the Most Complicated Relationship of Your Life

Wataru Watari

“Many daughters live out their lives avoiding or abiding or arguing with their mothers-burying the long-ago injury or insult or childhood deprivation under a blanket of forgetfulness-and not confronting it head-on. It's humiliating to remember the ways in which one demeaned oneself in order to prevent being in a mother's bad graces, the willingness to do anything in order to not be rejected, when rejection felt like death.”
Victoria Secunda, When You and Your Mother Can't Be Friends: Resolving the Most Complicated Relationship of Your Life

“Another reason it's dangerous to acknowledge that you were unloved is that it implies the possibility that your mother may have been right-you are unlovable.”
Victoria Secunda, When You and Your Mother Can't Be Friends: Resolving the Most Complicated Relationship of Your Life

“If your mother lived your life as though it were her own-never allowing you a moment of stress or frustration, routinely sleeping in your bed when you had a bad dream, never setting limits or establishing boundaries, seldom or never letting you out of her sight, excusing and failing to provide consequences for your negative or hurtful behaviour, insisting on a daily chronicle of every detail of your life, all in the name of maternal love-then you never had to grow up and take responsibility for your actions. You remain a child.”
Victoria Secunda, When You and Your Mother Can't Be Friends: Resolving the Most Complicated Relationship of Your Life

Carlos Wallace
“We all know someone who criticizes us to diminish our confidence or belittle our achievements. A person so disturbed, they project their insecurity onto others to make themselves feel superior. But no one can destroy what God has built up. Your greatest defense against their inferiority complex? Become a reminder of why they are inferior.”
Carlos Wallace, Life is not Complicated, You Are

“Sometimes people are intimidated not because you're superior, but they fear your presence may make them conscious of their choice of remaining inferior!”
Ramana Pemmaraju

“Ruefully, nobody perceives me as exceptionally gifted, intelligent, handsome, or physically strong. My sense of alienation stems from an inferiority complex, depressive nature, and manic tendencies that repulse other people. For many years, I passively accepted my clumsiness, uselessness, and lack of capacity for learning by avoiding serious literature and other opportunities for personal growth. I embraced personal ignorance by favoring tactile sensations and gross pleasure afforded in a materialistic culture that revels in a hedonistic lifestyle.”
Kilroy J. Oldster, Dead Toad Scrolls

“When you have inferiority complex, people appear to be mocking you about it. Trying to detach from people won't work. Detach from your own body-mind and identity. It belongs to the universe.”
Shunya

Corey Croft
“You are not exceptional, Sam. You know this. You are ignorant enough to chase a carrot with simple elation. However, you eliminate yourself from the race and blame it on the superiority of the other competitors.”

“You are the colonel of your life. Full stop. But your feeling of inadequacy isn’t a high enough frequency to make the thought pop.”
Curtis Tyrone Jones

Mike Gayle
“The one think i don't glean any information about is her husband, so I let my imagination go to town. I imagine he's called Hugo, works at an art college and specialises in multimedia (whatever that is). At the weekend he plays football and squash and is currently in training for the London Marathon. In addition to this he plays the saxophone, is younger than me, and permanently smells of cinnamon. Make no mistake, Hugo is a right tosser.”
Mike Gayle, Turning Forty

“It didn’t help that Carlos was always badmouthing himself as a neurotic. I had to agree with him. Like the psychiatrist who told his patient: Don’t worry about having an inferiority complex. You’re inferior.”

“Arabs & Garbage"
Strange is the Arab story with garbage!
Who told them
who taught them
to toss garbage randomly
wherever and however they please?
When will the Arabs understand
that placing garbage in its right place
will solve half of their environmental and societal problems?
And the other half of their problems
will be solved, too, as soon as they stop
tossing out their human gems
forcing out their most talented and qualified human capital
to serve foreigners in foreign lands?
When will the Arabs stop getting rid of their best minds,
replacing them with foreign garbage they glorify
simply because the foreign individuals have white skin and blue eyes
and claim to possess skills and expertise
the Arabs can’t survive without…
When will the Arabs understand
that placing garbage in its right place
-be it the garbage that govern their countries
or the foreign garbage they import –
will solve all their problems?

[Original poem published in Arabic on February 20, 2024 at ahewar.org]”
Louis Yako

“Negative underachievers, like hidden gems and energy drainers, often harbour an inferiority complex due to a lack of faith in their abilities and a fixed mindset. Recognizable by their lack of energy, self-belief, and passion for learning, they tend to expect the worst and struggle with problem-solving.”
Asuni LadyZeal

“Throughout history, tin-men have always sat on golden thrones because if you are nothing but a cheap tin with an inferiority complex, you try to gain value with gold!”
Mehmet Murat ildan

“رفتہ رفتہ اِس اِحساسِ کمتری کو ہرانے لگے ہیں

کُچھ بچپن کے صدمے

کُچھ بدقِسمتی کے قِصّے

آہِستہ آہِستہ بھُلانے لگے ہیں

کُفر ہے مایوسی دینِ اِسلام میں

بس یہی سوچ کر آج پھِر مُسکُرانے لگے ہیں”
Adeel Ahmed Khan

“Arabs & Garbage"
Strange is the Arab story with garbage— who told them, who taught them to toss waste carelessly, wherever and however they please?

When will Arabs understand that putting garbage in its proper place could solve half of their environmental and societal woes?

And the other half? That too would vanish if they stopped casting away their human gems— their brightest minds, forced to serve others abroad.

When will they stop discarding their best in favor of foreign refuse they glorify simply because it comes draped in white skin and blue eyes, boasting skills they claim Arabs can’t survive without?

When will they grasp that real change lies in placing all garbage— be it those who govern them or those they import— exactly where it belongs?”
Louis Yako, سرطان في كل مكان [Cancer Everywhere]

“Inferiority doesn't mean you don't love yourself. Because no one loved you, you had to love yourself more fiercely.

Maybe you put the other person on a pedestal, because you always had to feel you were special.

And when you try to love another person, when you admire something in them, it means you see what you lack and can no longer can love yourself anymore.”

“If someone wants to be a king, know that he's just a clown! Anyone who sees himself as superior to others and tries to dominate others has only one goal: To act with a superiority complex to hide his inferiority complex!”
Mehmet Murat ildan
