Elizabeth Norris
“This is the second fucking time I've gotten shot when I was with you. I don't think we can be friends anymore.”
Elizabeth Norris, Unbreakable

Isaac Asimov
“No individual death among human beings is important. Someone who dies leaves his work behind and that does not entirely die. It never entirely dies as long as humanity exists.”
Isaac Asimov, Robots and Empire

Sylvia Day
“He nuzzled her loosened vest off her shoulder and whispered in her ear. “One day soon, when you’re ready, I’m going to mount you like this. I’m going to ride you while you arch your neck for me. I’m going to mark you with my teeth. Fuck you. Mate with you. Then you’ll be mine, Vashti. Irrevocably. Every luscious, stubborn, dangerous inch of you. Mine.”
Sylvia Day, A Hunger So Wild

Sylvia Day
“Paul straightened, raking Elijah with a sweeping glance. “I’ve never seen a lycan shift so fast.” “Betcha never seen a lycan who’s nailing a vampress either,” Vash said. “Syre’s second, no less. It’s a whole new world.”
Sylvia Day, A Hunger So Wild

Jacquelyn Frank
“I would think you an utter fool if you did not doubt me, warrior. Instead, I am forced to respect your uncommon intelligence. Now what, do you suppose, should I do from there?”
Jacquelyn Frank, Elijah

Colson Whitehead
“I'm what the botanists call a hybrid," he said the first time Cora heard him speak, "A mixture of two different families. In flowers, such a concoction pleases the eye. When that amalgamation takes its shape in flesh and blood, some take great offence. In this room we recognize it for what it is - a new beauty come into the world, and it is in bloom all around us.”
Colson Whitehead, The Underground Railroad

A.O. Esther
“The first thing I saw was a handsome stranger. He was leaning over me and I luxuriated in his cool, radiantly blue eyes, glittering like diamonds.
How could someone be so perfect?
Drops of water glistened on his dark hair. There was a small dimple on his chin, covered with light stubble that lent his otherwise stern face a boyish attitude. I realised I was losing myself in his gaze”
A.O. Esther, Elveszett lelkek

John Alexander Dowie
“My tears were wiped away, my heart was strong, I saw the way of healing…I said, “God help me now to preach the Word to all the dying around, and tell them how ‘tis Satan still defiles, and Jesus still delivers, for He is just the same today.”
John Alexander Dowie

A.O. Esther
“The Dark Angel had seen much over the course of the past millennia, the passing of hundreds of thousands of mortal lives. He felt neither remorse nor mercy for the enemies he had felled in the course of wars and battles. He did what he had to do and believed that the people of Earth did not deserve all the good things they had received. For him, most people were harmful parasites who, in the process of their brief mortal lives, tried to get ahead by climbing over each other and destroying their own homes. He looked down on them and their love of material things. He believed that the star of humankind was waning, and that its brief stay on Earth would serve, at most, to swell the ranks of slaves in the underworld, where eventually darkness would eat them away.”
A.O. Esther, Elveszett lelkek

Jared Brock
“Prayer is meant to happen everywhere. After all, Daniel prayed in the lion’s den. Jonah prayed in a fish’s stomach. Elijah prayed in the desert. And Jesus prayed on the cross.”
Jared Brock, A Year of Living Prayerfully

A.O. Esther
“After a while I noticed that the pendant heart-shaped I wore around my neck, as every angel does, had begun to pulsate with blue light. I knew that this was thanks to Raphael and that he was sending healing energy for Joshua. I took my necklace off and gently put it round his neck so as not to wake him. The blue light grew stronger and started to flicker – then, drawing circles on the sick boy’s skin, it vanished around the level of his heart chakras. As blue light pervaded his entire body from head to toe, I could feel his burning skin slowly cool and his breathing became even.”
A.O. Esther, Elveszett lelkek

A.O. Esther
“Can I ask you something very personal while you try things on?”
“Yes, of course, what do you want to know?”
“…well, it’s just that… I don’t want to offend you,” she said uncertainly.
“Oh come on, Akane, out with it!” Mitsuko prompted her, “I want to know the answer too!”
“Very well,” agreed the little auburn pixie and cut to the chase:
“Where are your wings?”
The question was so unexpected that I burst out laughing.
“I had to part with them when I came down to Earth. “It’s something every angel has to deal with if they’re planning to spend any length of time down here.”
“And what’s your life like, up there?” Akane asked.
“In the Kingdom of Heaven, we live as beings of pure light.” “Up there, there’s no such thing as fear, pain, hot or cold. We don’t know hunger, suffering, ageing or death. We have no need of food and we don’t sleep. We are the messengers of God and we watch over the lives of mortals. We come to Earth often, but only as spirits, and once we’ve completed our task down here, we always go back to the White Woods.”
A.O. Esther, Elveszett lelkek

Herman Melville
“Morning to ye! Morning to ye!”
Herman Melville, Moby-Dick or, The Whale

Ufuoma Apoki
“There comes a time when you're so in tune with God that your spoken word becomes God’s Word, and it has the necessary potency to back it up. #Elijah”
Ufuoma Apoki

Bruce R. McConkie
“Now, the atonement of Christ is the most basic and fundamental doctrine of the gospel, and it is the least understood of all our revealed truths. Many of us have a superficial knowledge and rely upon the Lord and his goodness to see us through the trials and perils of life. But if we are to have faith like Enoch and Elijah we must believe what they believed, know what they knew, and live as they lived.”
Bruce R. McConkie

Jennifer L. Armentrout
“Though I doubt she needs it, keep her safe, Prince.'

'I always keep what is mine safe,' ...”
Jennifer L. Armentrout, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire

Jen Meyers
“It brought back the feel of her love, something he hadn’t felt for centuries. Something that was familiar as his own voice. Funny how a feeling could stay with a person for so long."~Elijah”
J Meyers

“Elijah hiccupped and gave her a smile back. It was probably wind but that didn't matter. 'You are absolutely beautiful.' She kissed his head and breathed in the distinctive baby-scent. It was the smell of life and love and it made her ache.”
Emma Jackson

Victoria Denault
“I lean closer to the screen and decide to really push her limits by hitting her with one of those pickup lines she loves to hate. "My beard wants to know if you would like a comfortable place to sit down?”
Victoria Denault, Slammed

Jennifer L. Armentrout
“I’m kind of sad I didn’t get the same welcome,” quipped Delano.
Laughing under my breath, I turned to the pale-haired wolven. “Might
be a wee bit suspicious if I know every single one of you.”
“I know.” Delano came forward. “I just wanted to complain.”
I took hold of his arm. “It is good to see you.”
Wintry blue eyes met mine. “I was worried we wouldn’t…” He forced a
smile. “You good?”
Yanking the younger wolven in for a hug, I cupped the back of his head.
“I’m good.”
“Oh, fuck,” Elijah muttered. “You’re going to make him an even bigger
marshmallow.”
“Marshmallow?” I repeated, pulling back.
Delano rolled his eyes. “Yeah, he says I’m like a marshmallow, all
gooey and soft on the inside.”
“Am I wrong?” Elijah threw up his hands.
“You’re going to realize just how not soft I am when I knock your ass
through that stone wall,” Delano warned, pointing at said wall.
“You wouldn’t dare.” Elijah chuckled, motioning us to follow him to
one of the closed wooden doors. “Wanna know why? You’d be all kinds of
sad afterward for hurting me.”
“I’m not so sure about that,” Delano muttered, but he did so as he
grinned.”
Jennifer L. Armentrout, A Soul of Ash and Blood

“So, you’re
down a few guards already. What about the rest?”
“I will handle them,” I told him.
Delano lowered his glass. “None of them can be swayed to join our
side?”
I smiled faintly at his optimism. “I don’t believe so.”
“See? Marshmallow.” Elijah leaned back, kicking his feet up onto the
desk. “First thing he asks? How did the Maiden get scarred? The second
thing?” He finished off his whiskey as Naill hid his smile behind his hand.
“Can any of the guards be saved? Soon, he’s gonna ask—” He cursed as
Delano turned, knocking his legs off the desk with a swipe of his arm,
nearly toppling Elijah out of his chair. He righted himself with one hand.
“My apologies.”
“Uh-huh.” Delano turned.”
