Erik Pevernagie
“Let the panther of our imagination not be encaged by the mechanics of despotic thinking short-circuiting our hunches and blocking our intuition. ("Into a new life")”
― Erik Pevernagie

“When you have been killed as many times as I have, you get used to it.”

Ursula Hegi
“Their train speeds through the cities and crosses rivers until it reaches Paris. They leave the station, their arms around each other, and walk to the Jardin des Plantes where the panther paces the length of his cage. The young teacher nods as Hannelore Beier reaches into the cage, and strokes the animal's magnificent neck. The panther arches his back. A curtain lifts from his pupils as the pastor's sister slides aside the bolt that has kept him in captivity. His eyes like sudden, green flames, he recognizes a world beyond the bars of his cage.”
― Ursula Hegi, Floating in My Mother's Palm

Kathleen O'Neal Gear
“What kind of incompetence is this, leaving dangerous fiends like us alone to commit mischief?”
― Kathleen O'Neal Gear, People of the Mist

“If she had not been alone, she would never have seen the panther or felt the hope it spread into the world like rings around the splash of a rock thrown into a still lake.”

― Stephen J. O'Brien, Tears of the Cheetah: The Genetic Secrets of Our Animal Ancestors

Katie McGarry
“I should run, but I’m paralyzed by the sight of him. Even moving slowly, Isaiah possesses the prowess of a panther. His muscles pronounced in the easy way he strides. The set, determined gaze on me as his prey. This only proves how weak I am. Like the animal on the verge of being devoured in the wild, I stand here stunned by his dangerous beauty.”
― Katie McGarry, Crash into You

“Enough !! of the lion ruling the wild territory, time to vote the panther gentlemen.”
― Neymat Khan

“So now you've met the pink panther,
The rinky-dink panther,
And it's as plain as your nose,
That he's the one and only, truly original,
Panther-pink-panther from head to toes !”
― un-known

Stewart Stafford
“That boorish man stole colour from a maiden's cheek to redden his ardour. She, with her prancing panther's gait and proud, undulating beauty, revelled in her existence and left him foolishly in her wake.”
― Stewart Stafford

Nicole Gozdek

Nutz deine Sinne! Was spürst du unter deinen Pfoten? Erde, Gras, Zweige? Entdecke deinen Instinkt! Was spürst du?«”
― Nicole Gozdek, Emanio - Der Schöne und das Biest

Nicole Gozdek

like a
panther in the shadows,
discrete yet alert”

Grace Reilly
“His evergreen eyes bore into mine. Watching. Waiting.
"You look like a panther," I blurt. My gaze drifts to his panther tattoo, still a little red from the burn I gave him. "Like you just dragged me back to your den."
His eyes are endless green. So easy to get lost in. "And you like it.”
― Grace Reilly, Yes, Chef

“Afterward, we stay on the floor together, lounging in a patch of sun like a pair of cats. He holds me to his chest, fingertips skimming over my bare skin. I like the cage his body makes, comfortable and secure. The smattering of dark hair on his chest and legs, which contrasts with my smooth skin. I rub one flat nipple, then kiss it. I turn his free arm from side to side, admiring the bold tattoos inked into the sun-warmed skin. I even nip his bicep, smiling at his huff of amusement. “What’s this one for?” I’m running my nail over a blue-black inked moth.
“Just thought it looked cool.”
“Really?”
“That’s the secret us tattooed freaks don’t want the rest of you to know.” His breath ruffles my hair. I shiver pleasantly. “Sometimes it’s just because we wanted the ink.”
“I think you wanted the pain.” I slant my eyes upward. I know I’m right, judging by his eyes. “What about my favorite one?”
“That one I planned. I got it after my first shift in a Michelin-starred restaurant. It’s me.” He says it with such confidence, I know he’s serious. He thinks of himself as a panther, stalking alone through the forest, knife in his maw. I can’t imagine anything lonelier. Florida panthers are endangered, after all. “Why is it your favorite?”
“I don’t know.” I pet the panther. It’s one of the most detailed pieces he has. “I guess part of me realized it was one of the meaningful ones.”
Now that I think of it, all the most detailed tattoos are of animals. I can’t even imagine how long it took to ink the octopus splashed across his chest and collarbone.”
