It's divided into three biographies. The first features a really strong women - Angelina Grimke, who was extremely awesome. Varina Davis was capable and intelligent, even if she never saw past her societies view of things or openly challenged the norm. As for Julia Davis,well... she was kinda a ditz. Certainly not someone I'd classify as a strong female character, but the other two would be worth reading.
