I was born on 7 March 1983 into a Taoist family. Although I was not raised as a Christian, I believed from a young age that there must be a God. Whenever I read about the vastness of space and the countless planets in the universe, I felt that such a magnificent creation could not have come about by chance (Romans 1:20–21). I did not know who God was, but I longed to know Him. I often prayed to what I called the “unknown God,” asking Him to reveal Himself to me and show me why I was created (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
When I was eleven years old, my aunt invited me to church. There, I watched a Christmas skit about the birth of Jesus. Although I knew very little about Him, something about the story touched my heart and left me with a sense of warmth and peace.
During my secondary school years, however, I became rebellious. I disobeyed my parents, was rude to my teachers, and even prayed to Satan because I wanted good grades without putting in the effort to study. Instead of helping me, my life grew worse. My grades declined, I became filled with anger, and I found myself hating both my father and many of the people around me (John 10:10).
Everything began to change after I prayed to God for help when I was caught stealing a CD from a music store. Soon after, my aunt gave me a children's Bible. As I read it, I realized that the God described in its pages was the same God I had been searching for all my life. By my Junior College years, I was convinced that Christianity was true.
A friend later introduced me to a Christian girl who shared the Gospel with me and encouraged me to trust Jesus. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour and have never regretted that decision (John 5:24).
Today, I love the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with all my heart. Though my family are not yet Christians, I continue to pray for them and faithfully follow Jesus. May my life always bring glory to God.
