Today marks 13 years since I read the first Mistborn book. Mistborn hit me like a massive wave, and it had a huge impact both on the genre and on me personally. But ever since then, I’ve been struggling to find newly released fantasy that comes even remotely close to the excitement I felt when I first discovered Mistborn.
So I’m looking for fantasy published within the last 5 years, including lesser-known titles — something intelligent, rich, and substantial. I enjoy Malazan, Paksenarrion, bizarre grimdark WH40K, as well as genre books published before 2000.
